What is Tortilla Takedown?

In Tortilla Takedown, players face off in a series of strategic moves, using combos, power plays, and out-of-turn cards to eliminate their opponents and be the last one standing. The game is a blend of strategy, luck, and timing, where every decision could mean the difference between victory and defeat.

Objective:

The goal is simple—be the first player to eliminate an opponent at the table and claim the title of Tortilla Takedown champion.

How to Set Up:

• Hearts: Each player starts with 15 hearts, representing their health in the game.
• Card Deck: Shuffle the deck and deal 8 cards to each player.
• Draw Pile: Place the remaining cards face down in the center of the table to form the draw pile.
• Takedown Combo: Randomly draw 5 combo tiles from the bag and lay them out. This set of tiles is the Takedown Combo for the game.
• Champion Belt: The First Player begins with the champion belt. In the first game, this goes to the last person who watched wrestling. For future games, it’s passed to the last winner of Tortilla Takedown.

How to Play:

Each turn, players will:

1. Draw: Refill their hand to 8 cards by drawing from the draw pile.

2. Play Cards: Choose to play combo or heart cards by discarding the required cards to the discard pile.

   • Combo Cards: Deal damage to opponents by playing specific combos. Add extra damage by playing additional cards of the same type.
     • Punch: Two Punch cards deal 1 damage.
     • Kick: Two Kick cards deal 2 damage.
     • Slam: Two Slam cards deal 3 damage.
     • Top Rope: Two Top Rope cards deal 4 damage.
     • Takedown Combo: Play all 5 cards of the Takedown Combo to deal a massive 7 damage.
   • Example: If a player plays two Slam cards and adds two more, the targeted opponent loses 5 hearts.

3. Out-of-Turn Cards:

   • Sauced: Negates any incoming damage.
   • Flying Fajita: Redirects incoming damage to another player.

4. Heart Cards: Heal by discarding heart cards. Each card restores 1 heart, up to a maximum of 15 hearts.

5. Pass: If unable to play, discard any number of cards without effect and pass the turn.

6. New Takedown Combo: If the Takedown Combo is used, replace the combo tiles by drawing 5 new ones from the bag.

Pin Count and Game End:

• Pin Count: When a player’s hearts drop to zero, a pin count begins. The player reveals three cards from the draw pile one by one.
  • Heart Card Revealed: The player heals 1 heart per heart card and continues in the game.
  • No Heart Card Revealed: The player is eliminated, and the opponent who dealt the final blow wins the game.
